YouTube creators can now curate and build their own virtual store on the platform using updated shopping features.
Writing in a blog post, Aditya Dhanrajani, Director of Product Management at YouTube Shopping, said it has introduced Shopping Collections as a “new way for creators to curate products from their favourite brands – or even their own line!”
The ‘Collections’ feature allows creators to pick a selection of products for any theme. It will appear in their product list, Store tab, and video description. Initially, creators will be able to make Collections on the Studio app with plans for the feature to be rolled out on desktop soon.
“We hope Collections helps creators curate their own virtual store on YouTube so people can shop their favourite products and increase earnings,” Dhanrajani said.
Among the latest updates, YouTube is launching a new Affiliate Hub directly in the YouTube app to make it easier for shopping creators to find information to start planning their next shoppable video. This includes the latest list of shopping partners, commission rates, promo codes, and even samples from top brands.
Over the past year, YouTube also launched the ability for affiliate shopping creators to tag products across their videos in bulk based on products creators have added to the description. The platform is now expanding this feature to all Shopping creators, so they can tag their own products and merch across their video library. The idea is to help creators earn more revenue from older content that still gets high traffic.
Finally, it has added Fourthwall to its list of integrated platforms to make it easier for creators to create and manage their stories directly in YouTube Studio.
