Cloud-based website builder, Wix has agreed with Stripe to bring Tap to Pay on iPhone to its merchants in the US.

The deal allows Wix merchants to accept contactless payments directly from their iPhones via credit or debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets. To process the payments, they can use the Wix Owner App without additional hardware.

“Tap to Pay on iPhone lets merchants accept and process contactless payments in seconds without additional hardware. Wix merchants and their customers can use Tap to Pay on iPhone anywhere knowing they’re completing fast and secure payment transactions using iPhone,” said John Affaki, Terminal Business Lead at Stripe.

Tap to Pay on iPhone expands Wix’s broader point-of-sale (POS) offering which offers multiple solutions for in-person transactions. In February, Stripe announced that it had introduced Tap to Pay on Android for in-person contactless payments in the US, Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, and Singapore. Similarly, the service provides an alternative to Stripe Terminal’s dedicated card readers by allowing businesses to turn compatible Android devices into contactless mobile card readers.

Amit Sagiv and Volodymyr Tsukur, Co-Heads of Wix Payments, added: “Tap to Pay on iPhone offers merchants a reliable and secure payment option to increase customer touchpoints and deliver new in-person experiences, ultimately optimising their multichannel strategy and increasing the monetisation of their offline sales.

“Our partnership with Stripe gives merchants the ultimate flexibility to sell anytime, anywhere – whether in-store or on the go, at their own convenience to never miss a sale.”
