Cross-border payments company, Thunes has appointed Victor Lucena as the company’s new Head of Latin America (LATAM).

Lucena will oversee all aspects of Thunes’ LATAM operations and will be based in São Paulo, a place he has worked for the last number of years. During that time, he has taken up several business development roles roles for leading payments and fintech firms, including PayU, Binance, Worldpay, and Rapyd.

Speaking on his appointment, Lucena said: “Thunes can help LATAM’s Fintechs and businesses unlock massive growth opportunities by supporting its international payments ambitions and connecting it to other continents. I look forward to ramping up our existing partnerships in this exciting market, and creating new connections.”

In 2022, Thunes launched partnerships with Bexs and Daycoval to enable real-time business and customer inbound payments to Brazil. Another deal was struck with Banco Santander in Mexico adding to its list of partnerships across LATAM. In addition to its payment acceptance capabilities, it provides a range of payment options for integration such as PIX, Mercado Pago and PicPay in Brazil.
