Selfridges has launched a new loyalty programme powered by a QR code, which can be added to the Wallet App.
According to the UK-based retailer, Selfridges Unlocked gives early access to product launches, news, free shipping as well as special invites to Selfridges events. It also allows customers to give back with a charity donation each time they shop.
Customers sign up by opting in to receive their Selfridges Key. This is received in the form of a QR code that can be added to the Wallet App. It can be scanned in store and used to unlock Selfridges features across its physical and digital touchpoints.
“Selfridges Unlocked has been carefully curated to help customers live brighter, and makes purchases go further, making a meaningful difference to the local community in partnership with Centrepoint,” the retailer said in a statement.
The concept has been inspired by pioneering founder Harry Gordon Selfridge, who in 1909 on the store’s opening day, offered keys to the first customers with the wish that they would feel “at home” in Selfridges. Selfridge famously said ‘Everyone is welcome’, and everyone can be a Selfridges Keyholder.
As part of the programme the company added that keyholders will have the chance to win “a prize of a day of extraordinary Selfridges experiences”. The new initiative makes Selfridges the latest in a line of retailers to offer loyalty programs designed to encourage customers to continue to shop.
