Pizza Hut accepts TikTok trends as official payment method

Pizza Hut UAE has announced it is accepting trending TikTok content as an official payment method as part of a new digital marketing campaign.

By launching the ‘Pay With Your Trend’ concept, the firm is aiming to turn TikTok content into its very own currency and encourage customers to post on the social media site in return for a free My Box, a customizable menu item.

By allowing users to “pay” with content (like posts, shares, or hashtags), brands are increasingly looking to capitalise on user-generated content to create organic marketing in 2024. This type of engagement can foster a stronger connection between the brand and its audience, leading to increased brand loyalty.

To avail of the Pizza Hut limited-time offer customers are being asked to create any kind of content they like as long as long as it’s a current social media trend and it features a My Box within the content.

Ahmed Sabri, Marketing Lead at Pizza Hut Middle East & Pakistan, said: “Social media is quite literally becoming a currency in today’s world. So far, it’s been accessible only to those who have a large following. With this promotion, we’re opening it up for everyone and anyone.”

He added: “No matter who you are, what you do, or how many followers you have, you can use your content to pay for Pizza Hut’s My Box. Being one of the first pizza brands in the UAE, I really think it’s essential that we stay connected to our youth by engaging with them through their passions and platforms.”

How it works

According to Pizza Hut, the customer must first purchase a My Box meal from a store or through the Pizza Hut UAE website or app. They then need to film a creative video of themself, featuring any current TikTok trend and a Pizza Hut My Box. Finally they must post the public video on TikTok, tagging and following @PizzaHutUAE with the hashtag #YourTermsYourConditions.

Pizza Hut UAE will then send a DM via TikTok containing a one-time promo code which can be redeemed on the Pizza Hut UAE website or app to receive a free My Box in exchange for the content created.
