European neobank, Viva Wallet has added local payment methods, MB Way and MB Ref to its list of online and in-store payment options for its users in Portugal.
The new additions will complement exisitng international cards schemes and digital wallets as well as a local branch and dedicated team of payments experts within the country, the company announced.
The methods will be supported by both the Viva Wallet Smart Checkout payment gateway, and the Viva Wallet POS app. In addition to online transactions, the Viva Wallet POS app can be used by merchants to accept MB Way and MB Ref payments in their physical stores as well.
MB Way, which currently has more than 2 million active users, is a local favourite for mobile payments in Portugal. The digital wallet allows shoppers to buy, perform remote withdrawals or make immediate transfers with a mobile phone number and MB Way pin.
According to Viva Wallet, the self-updated Smart Checkout solution, which turns any android device into a card terminal offers increased conversion rates, of up to 21%. The cloud-based neobank features over 30 payments options on all its platforms, including local and international methods as well as popular digital wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay.
