ZaloPay has partnered with Shopify, officially becoming the first Vietnamese e-wallet provider to integrate with the platform, the company said.
In a statement the companies said they would use the partnership to promote the “Brand.com” website model in Vietnam so businesses could keep up with the trend of e-commerce.
This is a model where businesses build and do business on their own websites, contributing to expanding sales channels besides selling through general e-commerce floors. In Vietnam, the Digital Economy is developing due to two important components: logistics and payment infrastructure. Shopify has the largest commerce ecosystem in the industry with more than 40,000 app developers, theme designers and other partners.
According to the Department of Ecommerce and Digital Economy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the number of Vietnam-based businesses owning websites in 2021 accounted for approximately 43%. In addition, among the 4,000 websites and apps that have confirmed to notify and register with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, up to 44.4% have online sales functions.
Bharati Balakrishnan, Shopify’s Southeast Asia and India regional director said: “More and more businesses in Vietnam are realising the benefits of e-commerce to drive growth, and we’ve seen the digital economy grow. A number of merchants in Vietnam use Shopify to accelerate their online business. Payments are an integral part of the online commerce journey. We are delighted to be partnering with a leading local E-Wallet like ZaloPay to deliver a more consumer-friendly experience for our merchants.”
