TikTok is gearing up to introduce its in-app shopping platform in Spain and Ireland as early as October, marking a renewed effort to expand its e-commerce business in Europe.

According to a Bloomberg report, the social media giant, owned by ByteDance Ltd., has begun informing partners, including merchants and creator agencies, about the upcoming launch of TikTok Shop in these countries.

Although the rollout will be more limited than initially planned, there are preparations to extend the platform to other European markets next year.

In Spain, TikTok Shop has reportedy assembled a team of approximately 40 employees, making it one of the company’s largest e-commerce operations in Europe. The firm is also recruiting Spanish-speaking staff for various roles in Madrid and London.

Initially, TikTok had planned to launch its shopping feature in Spain, Germany, Italy, France, and Ireland earlier this year but postponed this to focus on the US market. The US remains TikTok’s key market, with 170 million monthly users, with the company aiming to significantly boost its US merchandise volume.
