Splitit Payments and AliExpress have expanded their ‘Pay After Delivery’ option to customers in the US, the firms have announced.

The move follows the rollout of the payment service on AliExpress in several other countries earlier this year. These included Germany, Spain, France, Italy, the Netherlands. the UK and Australia,

In February, it was revealed that as part of the Splitit-Alipay tie-up, a hold is put on shoppers’ credit cards when they make purchases on AliExpress. Customers must first confirm receipt of their goods before the money is transferred to the sellers.

In addition to the “Pay After Delivery” option, Splitit’s instalment service is now also being offered in both Spain and Germany. The allows users of AliExpress to pay in instalments over three or six months, the company said.

Speaking on the announcement, Splitit CEO Nandan Sheth said: “We are thrilled with the results seen from the rollout of our Pay After Delivery and instalments service with AliExpress, whilst further strengthening our partnership with Checkout.com. The demand from shoppers has been very positive, proving there is demand for a modern, simple way to allow consumers to pay only after the product has been delivered, improving the customer experience and building merchant loyalty.”
