Maxima has extended its contactless shopping service, “Scan yourself”, to additional stores across Latvia, the company has announced.
Initially available in Riga and Mārupe, the solution has been brought to 31 “Maxima” large-format “XX” and “XXX” stores nationwide.
“Scan yourself” enables consumers to scan goods, as they shop, via the “Maxima” mobile app and pay for the purchase at self-service checkouts or in a special payment area, with the aim of making the overall shopping process quicker and more efficient.
According to the firm, customers who have not used the functionality before will receive a 10% discount on their first ten purchases with the feature.
The app allows buyers to see the current price of products as well as the total amount of all scanned products.Products can also be placed immediately in the shopping bag, avoiding the repeated movement of products, the firm said.
How it works
Once the goods have been scanned and placed in the bag, the consumer goes to the self-service checkout area, scans the QR code on the cash register screen, chooses the payment method and pays for the purchase, either through the app, by bank card or by cash.
The Maxima app has been made available for Android, iOS and Huawei operating systems. In addition to the new “Scan yourself” function, Maxima added that users of the app will be able to keep track of their purchase history, check the price of goods, review current stock offers, create a shopping list and apply for a digital receipt.
