German-based Computop has introduced ‘Pay to Drive’ an integrated payment solution for EV charging stations as it seeks to tap into a growing trend of electromobility across Europe.
With Pay to Drive operators of charging stations will be given a choice of flexible payment options via the Computop Paygate platform. For instance, Apple Pay with girocard, Google Pay and the new Click to Pay credit card option are all available on smartphone while popular local payment methods such as Swish in Sweden, Twint in Switzerland or Blik in Poland can also be accommodated, Computop said.
With Computop’s business model the company offers a range of customised in-app payments, a standardised payment platform and a choice of over 50 acquirer connections. In Germany, for instance, it supports girocard online payment at several locations for charging station operators.
The company also uses tokenisation, designed to support enhanced card payment security as the expiry date of credit cards is automatically updated. In addition, there is a cash back function thatmakes it possible to pay out cash, for example at petrol station checkouts, Computop said.
The payments provider has partnered with various players in the transport and automotive sector including DeLijn / Belgium and BONNsmart in public transport, TollCollect for HGV tolls, Mercedes Pay for in-car payments and Compleo for EV charging.
Ralf Gladis, CEO Computop, said: “Electromobility is growing rapidly internationally. That’s why we believe we are perfectly positioned for e-charging providers with our numerous local payment methods and strong services in the background.”
He added: “Our new partnership with nexi, which has already acquired major customers in this area, further strengthens our offering. With Computop Pay to Drive, we have another flexible industry solution in our portfolio.”
