Careem has announced it will deliver the new iPhone 15 in less than 30 minutes to customers in the Middle East as part of an expansion of its rapid delivery service, Careem Quik.

In a statement, the company said it has expanded its product selection to include the new iPhone model in addition to other electronic accessories such as USB cables, power banks, and headphones.Careem Quik, which was launched in Dubai in 2021, had already been delivering fresh produce, groceries, and a range of household items. In the past year, it has almost trebled its product selection to over 6500 across multiple categories.

The expansion of Careem’s rapid delivery service comes as companies in the Middle East look to gain an edge in an increasingly competitive market. A recent report revealed that net profits among MENA food delivery companies grew by 36% year-on-year in 2022, led by companies in the UAE and Bahrain.

Quik recorded over 1 million grocery orders in July 2023. In the last twelve months,  one customer reportedly spent over AED 53,000 ($14,429) on 279 grocery orders while the highest number of orders made by a single customer was 390. The largest single order was said to be worth AED 2,831 ($770), for a basket of 124 items.

With the latest launch, the firm said it will only deliver iPhone models approved by the Telecom Regulatory Authority, with 1-year warranty from Apple.

“Careem Quik is offering a new kind of Apple with the launch of the iPhone 15. Customers can skip the lines and the long delivery times, and instead get iPhones delivered to their door in minutes. We’re always looking for opportunities to simplify our customers’ lives, and are excited to be solving for a whole new segment with this launch,” Chase Lario, Head of Groceries at Careem, said.
