Apple retail stores will soon introduce a new home delivery service according to a report by Bloomberg.

Internally it will be called EasyPay Online Ordering and will roll out in early August, Bloomberg reported after seeing a memo that had earlier been sent to Apple’s retail store employees.

“We want all our customers to leave the store with exactly what they came for. And this will be easier with EasyPay Online Ordering, launching in early August. With a single bag transaction, you’ll have the option of different fulfillment methods, like shipping or personalizing a product,” the memo said.

It is the first time that Apple retail stores will be able to sell products and have them shipped to the customer directly via their EasyPay point-of-sale machines.

It means that if an item is out of stock, the store can still carry out the sale rather than risk a customer leaving the store empty handed. For some of the larger Apple products like an iMac or Mac Pro customers will have the option to pay for it in store and still have it delivered home.

It was reported further that this may also mean Apple is planning to stock fewer items and rely more on shipping, at least across some of its stores. As a result, the company may look to expand its number of remote stock rooms that help serve Apple’s smaller stores.

It may also be part of an effective strategy for the Vision Pro where a product can contain several combinations of highly expensive equipment such as head bands, light seals and prescription lens inserts, the report said. By introducing the new home delivery service where staff can tell the user that a missing part will be shipped to them the risk of losing out on a big sale becomes hugely reduced.
