Amazon reports double-digit growth for German SMEs

German SMEs increased their export sales on Amazon by 10%, last year, according to a new report by the e-commerce giant.

Amazon’s “SME Report 2023” shows a total of €5.5 billion in export sales representing a new record, Amazon said. The number of selling partners remained constant at around 47,500, while the number of jobs created by SMEs to run their online businesses on Amazon grew from 160,000 to 170,000.

Among other findings, the report reveals that companies from Germany sold more than 750 million products via Amazon Marketplace in 2023, corresponding to more than 1,400 products per minute.

According to Amazon, 80 percent of German SME traders also sell internationally on the platform with Sales partners from Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia showed the most successful development in terms of exports in 2023.
